| Abstrak | Penelitian ini berjudul “ASPEK GENDER DALAM MEROKOK (Studi Fenomenologi Tentang Konsep Diri Mahasiswi Perokok di Lingkungan Kampus FISIP Universitas Jenderal Soedirman)“. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui konsep diri mahasiswi perokok dan mengetahui cara mahasiswi perokok menyikapi stereotipe negatif terhadap aktivitas merokok di lingkungan kampus FISIP Universitas Jenderal Soedirman Purwokerto. Untuk tujuan tersebut peneliti menggunakan pendekatan fenomenologi dan kajian teori interaksionisme simbolik sebagai theoretical framework. Informan dalam penelitian ini dipilih dengan teknik purposive sampling. Hasil dari Penelitian ini adalah mahasiswi perokok di lingkungan kampus FISIP Universitas Jenderal Soedirman cenderung memiliki konsep diri yang memandang dirinya positif. Mahasiswi perokok memang merasa terganggu dengan labeling negatif yang ditujukan pada diri mereka, terutama menyangkut peran mereka sebagai perempuan , tetapi hal tersebut tidak menjadikan mereka menghentikan kebiasaan tersebut karena rokok dianggap sebagai benda yang netral, merokok merupakan pilihan hidup dan hak bagi setiap manusia untuk dapat bersama-sama dinikmati tanpa dibedakan jenis kelaminnya serta sebagai pemenuh kebutuhan biologis. |
| Abstrak (Inggris) | The research is entitled “GENDER ASPECT IN SMOKING” (Phenomenological Study About Self-Concept Of Female Smoking Student in FISIP’s Campus of Jenderal Soedirman University). The aim of the research is finding out the self-concept of female smoking student and finding out the female smoker’s way in responding negative stereotype toward smoking in in FISIP’s campus of Jenderal Soedirman University. To answer such aims, the researcher used phenomenological approach and symbolic interactionism theory as theoretical framework. As for choosing the informant for the research, Purposive sampling technique is used. The result shows that the female smoking studentsin FISIP’s campus of Jenderal Soedirman University tend to have a self-concept which yield a positive perspective toward themselves. The female smokers indeed felt annoyed by the negative labeling directed at them, especially when the negative labeling is attached to their role as women, but the labeling did not stop the smoking habit because cigarette is considered as neutral thing to be enjoyed by everybody, and smoking is a matter of choice in life so it is their right as human to freely enjoy smoking without being differentiated by gender. As for the female smokers, smoking is considered as the act of fulfilling biological need |
