| Abstrak | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membahas jenis makna asosiatif yang terdapat pada teks tertulis pidato presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, untuk mengetahui fungsi makna asosiatif yang terdapat pada teks tersebut, dan untuk mengetahui bagaimana makna asosiatif berhubungan dengan register teks tertulis. Penelitian ini menganalisis makna asosiatif yang terdapat pada teks tertulis pidato presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Peneliti menganalisis makna asosiatif berdasarkan teori Leech yang mana makna asosiatif dibagi menjadi makna konotatif, makna stilistik, makna afektif, makna refleksi, dan makna kolokatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif dan peneliti menganalisis data yang termasuk pada makna asosiatif berdasarkan teori Leech dan membuat kesimpulan mengenai hubungan antara makna asosiatif dengan register pada teks tertulis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 38 makna asosiatif terdapat pada teks pidato presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. Kemudian, data tersebut di klasifikasikan pada jenis makna asosiatif (56 data) dan dikategorikan pada kata, prasa, dan kalimat (101 data). Penelitian menjelaskan tentang fungsi dari makna asosiatif dan menjelaskan hubungan antara makna asosiatif dengan register teks melalui variabel register. |
| Abstrak (Inggris) | The research was aimed to describe the associative meanings that are used in written text of Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s speech, to find out the functions of associative meanings that are used in the written text, and to find out how the associative meaning relates to the register of the written text. The research focused on analyzing associative meaning that existed in written text of Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’s speech. The researcher analyzed associative meaning based on Leech’s theory which associative meaning is divided into connotative meaning, stylistic meaning, affective meaning, reflected meaning, and collocative meaning. The research used qualitative research design and the researcher analyzed the data that involved to associative meaning based on Leech’s theory and drew conclusion of the relationship between the associative meaning and the register of the written text. The result showed that 38 associative meanings existed in Mr. Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono’ speech. Then, the data were classified into the types of associative meaning (56 of data) and were categorized into words, phrases, and sentences (101 of data). The research discussed the functions of associative meaning based on Leech’s theory and described the relationship between associative meaning and the register of the written text through register variables.
