| Abstrak | ABSTRAK Penelitian ini berjudul An Analysis of Politeness in the Imperative Utterances in Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah: 1) Untuk mengetahui tipe tutur perintah yang diterapkan dalam tutur perintah yang dihasilkan oleh para tokoh dalam drama Hedda Gabler karya Henrik Ibsen, 2) Untuk mengetahui strategi kesopanan yang diterapkan dalam tutur perintah yang dihasilkan oleh para tokoh dalam drama Hedda Gabler karya Henrik Ibsen, dan 3) Untuk menjelaskan hubungan antara tutur perintah dan strategi kesopanan yang diterapkan dalam tutur perintah yang dihasilkan oleh para tokoh dalam drama Hedda Gabler karya Henrik Ibsen. Metode kualitatif digunakan oleh peneliti untuk menjelaskan tipe bentuk perintah, strategi kesopanan, serta hubungan antara bentuk tutur perintah dan strategi kesopanan yang diterapkan di dalam tutur perintah yang dihasilkan oleh para tokoh. Setelah membaca drama tersebut, ditemukan 33 tutur perintah yang mengandung kesopanan. Setelah mengadakan analisa terhadap tutur-tutur perintah tersebut, berdasarkan tipe tutur perintah, terdapat 31 tutur perintah langsung dan 2 tutur perintah tidak langsung. Kemudian, berdasarkan tipe strategi kesopanan, terdapat 24 tutur perintah yang tergolong ke dalam strategi kesopanan positif, terdapat 4 tutur perintah yang tergolong ke dalam strategi kesopanan negatif, terdapat 3 tutur perintah yang tergolong ke dalam strategi kesopanan bald-on-record, dan terdapat 2 tutur perintah yang tergolong ke dalam strategi kesopanan off-record. Hubungan antara tutur perintah dan strategi kesopanan dalam tutur-tutur perintah yang dihasilkan oleh para tokoh dapat dipahami dari ciri khas tiap-tiap strategi kesopanan. |
| Abstrak (Inggris) | ABSTRACT This research was entitled An Analysis of Politeness in the Imperative Utterances inHenrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler. The purposes of this research were: 1) To know the types of imperative applied in the imperative utterances produced by the characters in Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, 2) To know the politeness strategyapplied in the imperative utterances produced by the characters in Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler, and 3) To explain the relationship between the imperative utterance and the politeness strategy applied in the imperative utterances produced by the characters in Henrik Ibsen’s Hedda Gabler. A Qualitative method was used to explain the types of imperative, the politeness strategy, and the relationship between the imperative utterance and the politeness strategy applied in the imperative utterances produced by the characters. After reading the drama, the researcher found that there were 33 imperative utterances contained politeness in the imperative utterances produced by the characters. After conducting the analysis to those utterances, based on the type of imperative, there were 31 direct imperative utterances and 2 indirect imperative utterances. Then, based on the type of politeness, there were 24 imperative utterances belonged to positive politeness strategy, 4 imperative utterances belonged to negative politeness strategy, 3 imperative utterances belonged to bald-on-record strategy, and 2 imperative utterances belonged to off-record strategy. The relationship between the imperative utterance and the politeness strategy applied in the imperative utterances produced by the characters can be understood from the characteristics of each politeness strategy. |
