| Abstrak | Candida merupakan mikroorganisme patogen oportunistik murni dan hanya menyebabkan infeksi oral ketika ada faktor predisposisi yang mendasari suatu kondisi pada host. Spesies yang paling sering menyebabkan kandidiasis oral pada manusia adalah Candida albicans. Salah satu obat tradisional yang memiliki potensi menghambat pertumbuhan C. albicans adalah belimbing wuluh. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah membuktikan ekstrak metanol daun belimbing wuluh dalam menghambat pertumbuhan C. albicans dan menentukan nilai IC50 ekstrak metanol daun belimbing wuluh terhadap C. albicans. Proses ekstraksi dilakukan dengan metode maserasi menggunakan pelarut metanol. Pengujian efektivitas ekstrak metanol daun belimbing wuluh terhadap C. albicans dilakukan pada konsentrasi 5%, 10%, 20% dan 40% pada medium sabouraud dextrose agar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak metanol daun belimbing dapat menghambat pertumbuhan C. albicans, nilai IC50 sebesar 12,11%. Aktivitas antifungi belimbing wuluh didapat dari senyawa flavonoid, saponin dan tanin yang terkandung di dalamnya, pada konsentrasi 12,11% ekstrak metanol daun belimbing wuluh menghambat sampai 50% populasi C. albicans. Kesimpulan yang didapat ekstrak metanol belimbing wuluh efektif menghambat pertumbuhan C. albicans dengan nilai IC50 sebesar 12,11%. |
| Abstrak (Inggris) | Candida is an opportunistic pathogen microorganism and only caused oral infections when predisposing factors that underlie a condition in host occurs. The most likely species causing oral candidiasis in human is a Candida albicans. One of the traditional medicines that have the potential to inhibit the growth of C. albicans is cucumber tree. This study aimed to prove the methanolic cucumber tree leaf extract can inhibit the growth of C. albicans and to determine the IC50 value of methanolic cucumber tree leaf ekstract to C. albicans. Extraction process in this study using maceration method by methanol. Effectivenes test of methanolic cucumber tree leaf extract against C. albicans conducted at concentrations of 5%, 10%, 20% and 40% on Sabouraud dextrose agar medium. The results showed that methanolic cucumber tree leaf extract inhibiting the growth of C. albicans. IC50 value obtained is 12,11 %. Antifungal activity of cucumber tree obtained from flavonoids, saponins and tannin contained in it. At a concentration of 12,11% methanolic cucumber tree leaf extract inhibited to 50% population. Conclusions metahnolic cucumber tree leaf extract effectively inhibited the growth of C. albicans with the number of IC50 as 12,11%. |
