Judul ArtikelELECTRONIC COMMERCE ADOPTION AND PERCEIVED BENEFITS BY SMALL AND MEDIUM SIZED ENTERPRISES (SME): AN EMPIRICAL STUDY OF SMALL AND MEDIUM ENTERPRISES IN JAPAN
AbstrakTujuan dari penelitian ini ada dua. Yang pertama adalah untuk mengeksplorasi dan secara empiris memeriksa tingkat adopsi electronic commerce (e-commerce), manfaatnya dan bagaimana manfaatnya dipandang oleh Usaha Mikro, Kecil dan Menengah (UMKM) di Jepang. Yang kedua adalah mencoba untuk menarik dan menyajikan implikasi yang relevan dan berguna untuk kebutuhan masa depan para pengguna e-commerce di Asia. Analisis regresi dipilih untuk mengetahui bagaimana perkembangan adopsi e-commerce di UKM dan bagaimana manfaat yang dialami pasca adopsi. Jenis penelitian ini adalah pengujian hipotesis dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah usaha mikro, kecil dan menengah di Jepang. Dalam penelitian ini, pengumpulan data berasal dari sumber primer, survei dan wawancara tidak terstruktur, dan sumber sekunder yang berupa buku, arsip, laporan tahunan, dan informasi yang dipublikasikan lainnya. Analisis pada White Paper on Small and Medium Enterprises oleh Pemerintah Jepang menunjukkan bahwa lebih dari separuh perusahaan telah melakukan pengenalan perangkat keras dan perangkat lunak dalam bisnis mereka. Namun, Jumlah bisnis yang signifikan, yaitu sekitar 37%, masih belum menghargai pentingnya adopsi e-commerce bahkan perusahaan di negara maju seperti Jepang. Hasil survei melaporkan bahwa "Meningkatkan pendapatan", "Mengurangi biaya pemasaran", "Meningkatkan loyalitas pelanggan dan retensi", "Meningkatkan hubungan pemasok", dan "Memperluas jangkauan pasar" adalah manfaat yang realisasikan oleh UMKM.
Abstrak (Inggris)The aim of this study is twofold. The first is to explore and empirically examine the electronic commerce (e-commerce) adoption level, its benefits and how the benefits are perceived by Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SME) in Japan. The second is to try to draw and present relevant and useful implications for the future needs of the e-commerce users in Asia. In order to discover how the adoption of e-commerce going on in SMEs and how the benefits are experienced post adoption, regression analysis is chosen. The type of research is hypotheses testing by using random sampling technique. The population of this study is micro, small and medium enterprises in Japan. In this study, data collection comes from primary sources, the survey and unstructured interview, and secondary sources which are books, archives, annual reports, and other published information. Analysis on White Paper on Small and Medium Enterprises by Government of Japan shows that more than half of the enterprises have done the hardware and software introduction in their business. But, significant numbers of business, which is approximately 37%, still don’t even appreciate the importance of e-commerce adoption even enterprises in the developed country like Japan. The survey results reported that “Increase revenue”, “Reduce marketing cost”, “Increase customer loyalty and retention”, “Improve supplier relationship”, and “Extending market reach” are the benefits which are realized by the SMEs.
