| Abstrak | Penelitian ini berjudul “Modes of Engagement in One Day: Twenty Years Two People (David Nicholls) Into One Day film (lone Scherfig)”. Penelitian ini berfokus pada modes of engagement dalam novel yang berjudul One Day: Twenty Years Two People, dan One Day film yang terdiri dari tiga elemen. Element yang pertama adalah tekhnik pada film, yang kedua adalah bentuk penambahan, dan pengurangan, yang terakhir adalah sinematografi atau perbedaan tekhnik pengambilan gambar (shot) yang digunakan pada film One Day. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori adaptasi dari Linda Hutcheon. Dalam bukunya, Linda Hutcheon bertujuan mencari tahu mengapa orang-orang setuju untuk megadaptasi sebuah karya seni, mengetahui upaya mereka akan kritik sebagai hal yang sekunder dan tidak lebih bagus dari versi imajinasi atau khayalan penonton yang diadaptasi. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif, penelitian ini bertujuan 1) menemukan modes of engagement (what), yang terdiri dari tiga elemen seperti: tekhnik, penambahan, dan pengurangan, yang terakhir sinematografi; 2) menjelaskan dan membandingkan data dari film dengan data dari novel. Selain itu, dari data analisis, peneliti menemukan beberapa elemen dalam modes of engagement (what) seperti, tekhnik yaitu tekhnik telling showing, penambahan, dan pengurangan dalam seting tempat dan tokoh-tokoh dalam One Day film dan novel One Day: Twenty Years Two People. Yang terakhir dan tak kalah penting yaitu, sinematografi atau perbedaan pengambilan gambar (shot) dalam film One Day, yang pertama adalah extrem long shot, ke dua long shot, ketiga close up, dan yang terakhir adalah bird’s eye tekhnik. |
| Abstrak (Inggris) | This research is entitled “Modes of Engagement in One Day: Twenty Years, Two People (David Nicholls) Into One Day Film (Lone Scherfig)”. It focuses on the modes of engagement in the novel entitled One, Day: Twenty Years Two People, and One Day film that consisting three elements. The first is the technique of the film the second is addition, and deletion form, the last is the cinematography or the different shot that applied in the One Day movie. The following research deals with film adaptation theory by Linda Hutcheon. In her book, Linda Hutcheon wants to find out why anyone would agree to adapt a work, knowing their efforts would like be scorned as secondary and inferior to the adapted text or audiences’s own imagination version. Qualitative method used in this research aims 1) to find the modes of engagement (what) consisting three elements such as, the technique, deletion, and addition, last is the cinematography depicted in One Day film; 2) to explain and compare the data from the film with data from the novel. Moreover, from the data analysis, the researcher found some elements in modes of engagement (what) such as the technique which is telling showing technique, second data is addition, and deletion in the setting of place and charaters in the movie and the novel. The last but not least is the cinematography or the different shot in One Day movie. There are four cinematography techniques found in One day movie first is the extrem long shot, second is long shot, third is close up, and the last is bird’s eye technique. |
