| Abstrak | Tingginya popularitas gim daring mendorong perlunya pengembangan teori komunikasi yang mampu menjelaskan hubungan pengguna dengan pemenuhan kepuasan melalui jenis media digital ini. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengisi kepincangan tersebut melalui uji hubungan antara variabel harga diri dengan variabel kepuasan bermain gim Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Teknik analisis korelasi pearson product moment digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat korelasi antarvariabel dari 72 respons valid yang diterima. Hasil uji korelasi menunjukkan bahwa kedua variabel memiliki hubungan positif pada tingkat keeratan moderat. Hasil penelitian ini memberikan pemahaman tentang bagaimana salah satu konsep dalam teori uses and gratifications berhubungan dengan harga diri pengguna media, sebuah wawasan baru yang belum pernah disajikan dalam literatur media digital. |
| Abstrak (Inggris) | Driven by the popularity of online gaming, there is a need to develop a communication theory that is able to explain the linkage between users and how they satisfy their needs through this kind of digital media. This research was conducted to fill that gap through a test of correlation between the variable of self-esteem and the variable of satisfaction of playing an online mobile game called Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. Pearson product moment correlation test was used to examine the degree of correlation between variables of 72 received valid responses. The result reveals that both variables have a moderate positive correlation. This study provides a better understanding on how one of the concept of uses and gratifications theory related with self-esteem, an insight that has not been examined previously in the digital media literature. |
