Penelitian ini fokus dalam penerapan metode PBL, aspek-aspek PBL yang membantu siswa menentukan keterampilan membaca, serta persepsi guru dan siswa tentang PBL. Penelitian ini dilakukan di SMA Negeri 2 Cilacap, dengan sampel 34 siswa dari X IPS 1. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: pertama adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan PBL dalam mengajar siswa keterampilan membaca bahasa Inggris, tujuan kedua adalah untuk mengetahui aspek implementasi PBL yang membantu siswa dalam keterampilan membaca mereka, dan ketiga adalah untuk mengetahui persepsi guru dan siswa tentang PBL dalam keterampilan membaca. Data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan observasi, kuesioner, dan wawancara. Kemudian, data dianalisis dan disajikan melalui penjelasan deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa implementasi PBL dalam pengajaran keterampilan membaca bahasa Inggris pada siswa kelas sepuluh SMA Negeri 2 Cilacap pada tahun akademik 2019/2020 sejalan dengan tahapan implementasi PBL yang disebutkan oleh Rusmono, yaitu guru mengatur siswa untuk suatu masalah, guru mengatur siswa untuk belajar, guru membantu penyelidikan mandiri dan kelompok, guru membantu siswa untuk mengembangkan dan mempresentasikan pekerjaan, dan guru menganalisis dan mengevaluasi proses pemecahan masalah. Kemudian, aspek implementasi PBL membantu siswa dalam keterampilan membaca mereka adalah: Pertama adalah masalah sebagai poin utama dalam PBL. Yang kedua adalah diskusi siswa. Yang ketiga adalah bantuan guru dalam diskusi siswa. Yang keempat adalah keaktifan siswa. Hasil terakhir adalah persepsi guru dan siswa tentang PBL dalam keterampilan membaca adalah positif. Guru berpikir bahwa materi dalam keterampilan membaca sesuai dengan model pengajaran PBL karena itu mengarahkan siswa untuk berdiskusi dan melatih keaktifan mereka, kemampuan untuk belajar memecahkan masalah, berbagi ide, dan bekerja secara kooperatif dalam kelompok. Kemudian, para siswa juga berpikir bahwa PBL adalah salah satu model yang menarik yang dapat mendukung mereka untuk memahami teks, karena dalam diskusi siswa dapat memperoleh wawasan dari teman-teman dan guru mereka. |

It focuses in the implementation of PBL method, the aspects of PBL that help the students teir reading skill, and teacher’s and students’ perception about PBL. This research is conducted in SMA Negeri 2 Cilacap, with the sample are 34 students from X IPS 1. The purposes of this research are: first is to find out how the PBL implementation in teaching the English reading skill on tenth grade students of SMA N 2 Cilacap in the academic year of 2019/ 2020, second objective is to know the aspects of the PBL implementation help the students in their reading skill, and third is to figure out the teacher’s and students’ perceptions about the PBL in reading skill. The data were collected by using observation, questionnaire, and interview. Then, they were analysed and presented through descriptive explanation. The result of this research shows that The PBL implementation in teaching english reading skill on tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 2 Cilacap in the academic year of 2019/2020 is in line with the stages of PBL implementation mentioned by Rusmono, those are the teacher organizes the students to a problem, the teacher organizes the students to learn, the teacher helps the independent inquiry and groups, the teacher helps the students to develop and present the work, and the teacher analyses and evaluates the problem solving process. Then, the aspects of PBL implementation help the students in their reading skill are : First is the problem as a main point in PBL. The second is the students discussion. The third is the teacher’s help in students’ discussion. The fourth is the students’ activeness. The last result is the teacher’s and students’ perception about PBL in reading skill are positive. The teacher thinks that materials in reading skill match with the PBL teaching model because it leads the students to discuss and train their activeness, ability to learn to solve problem, share idea, and work cooperatively in a group. Then, the students also think that PBL is one interesting model which can support them to understand the text, because in discussion the students can get insight from their friends and their teacher. |
