| Abstrak | Penelitian yang berjudul” Tomoe’s Education System as Treatment for ADHD Portrayed on The Main Character, Totto-chan in Totto-chan, The Girl at The Window by Tetsuko Kuronayagi” ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana sistem edukasi Tomoe Gakuen mempengaruhi sang tokoh utama, Totto-chan. Sistem edukasi dalam Tomoe Gakuen juga dijelaskan dalam penelitian ini. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga menjelaskan tipe GPPH (Gangguan Pemusatan Perhatian dan Hiperaktivitas) yang diderita oleh Totto-chan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dalam menganalisis data. Dialog dan narasi menjadi data primer dalam penelitian. Data-data yang sudah dikumpulkan dikelompokkan menjadi: gejala GPPH menggunakan DSM IV, edukasi yang tepat untuk GPPH berdasarkan U.S Department of Education, dan perubahan Totto-chan menggunakan Psikologi dalam literatur. Selain itu, buku, jurnal, dan artikel yang berhubungan dengan topik penelitian digunakan sebagai tambahan pendukung penelitian. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa Totto-chan menunjukan gejala GPPH kombinasi, namun tingkah laku dan perhatiannya menjadi lebih baik setelah belajar di Tomoe Gakuen. Sebagai tambahan, Tomoe Gakuen mengaplikasikan sistem edukasi yang tepat untuk murid dengan GPPH. Dengan demikian, sistem edukasi di Tomoe Gakuen memperngaruhi Totto-chan, sang tokoh utama. |
| Abstrak (Inggris) | This research entitled “Tomoe’s Education System as Treatment for ADHD Portrayed on The Main Character, Totto-chan in Totto-chan, The Girl at The Window by Tetsuko Kuronayagi” aims to find out how educational system in Tomoe Gakuen influences the main character, Totto-chan. It also explains the educational system in Tomoe Gakuen. Besides, this research also explains the type of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) of Totto-chan. This research uses qualitative method in analyzing the data. The dialogues and narrations from the novel are the primary data of this research. These data will be classified into: ADHD symptoms using ADHD concept based on DSM IV, proper education for ADHD based on U.S Department of Education and the Totto-chan’s changes using Psychology in Literature by Wellek and Warren. In addition, several book, journal, and articles related to the topic are used to support the analysis of the data. The result of this research shows that Totto-chan had combined ADHD symptoms, but her behavior and attention became better after she entered Tomoe Gakuen. Additionally, Tomoe Gakuen applies the proper education for ADHD student. Thus, the educational system in Tomoe Gakuen influences Totto-chan, the main character. |
