Judul ArtikelPENGARUH JENIS CAHAYA DAN PENAMBAHAN CAHAYA TERHADAP PENAMPILAN REPRODUKSI DAN PRODUKSI PUYUH BETINA
AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh interaksi antara jenis cahaya dan penambahan cahaya terhadap penampilan reproduksi dan produksi puyuh betina. Puyuh jepang (Coturnix coturnix japonica) yang digunakan sebanyak seratus sembilan puluh dua ekor DOQ betina.Rancangan menggunakan RAL faktorial (2x4) dengan tiga kali ulangan.Faktor pertama adalah jenis cahaya (C1 = cahaya pijar; C2 = cahaya LED biru) dan faktor kedua penambahan cahaya (P1 = 12; P2 = 14; P2= 16 and P3= 18 jam), sehingga terdapat 24 unit percobaan dan masing-masing unit terdiri atas 8 ekor puyuh betina.Pencahayaan diberikan selama 8 minggu (umur 5-12 minggu).Parameter yang diukur adalah penampilan reproduksi yang meliputibobot ovarium, jumlah folikel, panjang dan bobot oviduk, serta umur dewasa kelamin. Penampilan produksi meliputi konsumsi pakan, bobot badan, produksi telurhen day, konversi pakan, bobot telur dan tebal kerabang telur.Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan analisis variansi dengan uji lanjut orthogonal polinomial.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya interaksi (P<0,05) antara jenis cahaya dan penambahan cahaya dengan penampilan reproduksi dan produksi puyuh betina umur 6 dan 12 minggu. Pada umur 6 minggu, cahaya LED biru memberikan hasil tertinggi terhadap konsumsi pakan, jumlah folikel, serta umur dewasa kelamin.Namun, tidak terjadi interaksi (P>0,05) antara jenis cahaya dan penambahan cahaya terhadap bobot ovarium, panjang oviduk, bobot oviduk, bobot badan dan konversi pakan.Umur 12 minggu, cahaya LED biru memberikan hasil tertinggi terhadap bobot ovarium, panjang dan bobot oviduk, bobot badan, serta konversi pakan.Namun,tidak terjadi interaksi (P>0,05) antara jenis cahaya dan penambahan cahaya terhadap konsumsi pakan dan jumlah folikel. Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa adanya interaksi (P<0,05) antara jenis cahaya dan penambahan cahaya dengan produksi telur hen day serta tebal kerabang telur selama penelitian.Namun, tidak terjadi interaksi (P>0,05) antara jenis cahaya dan penambahan cahaya terhadap bobot telur. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penambahan cahaya LED biru selama 14 jam/hari pada puyuh betina mampu memberikan respon yang lebih baik terhadap penampilan reproduksidan produksi bila dibandingkan penambahan cahaya pijar.
Abstrak (Inggris)The purpose of this research was to examine the effect of light type and additionallighton the female quailsreproduction and production performance.One hundred and ninety two of day of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) was used in this experiment.The method used was an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD).Each of the treatment was replicated three times. A 2x4 factorial in which lighting type(C1= incandescent bulb; C2=Light Emitting Diode, LED light bulb) was considered as the first factor and additional light (P1 = 12 hours; P2 = 14 hours; P2= 16 hours and P3= 18 hours) as the second factor, so there are 24eachexperimentalunitconsisting ofeightunits offemalequails.Lights was given for eight weeks (weeks 5-12 of age). The parameters measured were Reproduction performance consist of ovarian weight, total of follicles, length and weight of oviduct, and age of sexual maturity. Production performance consisting of feed intake, body weight, hen day egg production, feed conversion, egg weight and egg shell thickness. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance followed by orthogonal polynomial.Results showed that the light type and lighting period had a significant (P<0.05) interaction between light typeandthe additional oflight on reproduction and production performance of female quails at 6 and 12 weeks old.At the weeks 6 of age, blue LED light gave the highest yield for totalof follicles, sexual maturity,feedconsumption.However, there is no interaction effect (P>0.05) between light type and additional light onthe weight of ovaries, length of oviduct, weight of oviduct, weight of body andfeed conversion.At 12 weeks of age,blue LED light gave the highest yield for weight of ovaries,length of oviduct, weight of oviduct, weight of body,and feed conversion.On the other hand, light type and additional light had no significant (P>0.05) interaction on the feed consumption and total of follicles.Also the results showed that the light type and additional of light had a significant (P<0.05) interaction on the hen day egg production, and egg shell thickness throughout the experiment.However, there is no interaction effect (P>0.05) between light type and additional light on the egg weight.It can be concluded that additional light of blue LED for 14 hours/day on female quails gave a better response on reproductive performance and production than that additional light of incandescent bulb.
