| Abstrak | Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jenis dan fungsi dari conjunctive cohesion dalam artikel pendidikan milik Sugiharto di The Jakarta Post dan untuk menjelaskan bagaimana conjunctive cohesions direfleksikan dalam teks tersebut. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kualitatif. Data dalam penelitian ini diambil dari artikel milik Setiono Sugiharto di The Jakarta Post edisi bulan Maret, April and Mei 2012. Setelah melakukan analisa pada keseluruhan data, peneliti mendapatkan 124 temuan yang memuat jenis dan fungsi dari conjunctive cohesion yaitu: additive conjunction yang berfungsi sebagai informasi tambahan (82), adversative conjunction berfungsi sebagai pertentangan (21), causal conjunction berfungsi sebagai sebab akibat dari suatu kejadian (16) and temporal conjunction berfungsi sebagai suatu urutan waktu (5). Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa secara keseluruhan, semua jenis conjunctive cohesion merealisasikan teori Halliday dan Hassan. Hal ini menunjukan bahwa conjunctions memiliki peranan penting dalam menghubungkan kata, frasa, kalimat, serta paragaf secara terpadu. |
| Abstrak (Inggris) | The aims of this research are to describe the types and functions of conjunctive cohesions in articles of education found in Setiono Sugiharto’s articles in The Jakarta Post and to explain how conjunctive cohesions are reflected in the text of Setiono Sugiharto’s articles. The method used in this research is qualitative method. The data of this research are taken from Setiono Sugiharto’s articles in The Jakarta Post edition of March, April and May 2012. After conducting the analysis, the researcher found 124 phenomena that consisted of the types of conjunctive cohesions; there are additive conjunction which functions to add the information (additional meaning) (82), adversative conjunction which functions to contrast the meaning (21), causal conjunction which a cause and effect (16) and temporal conjunction when a sequence of time (time expression) (5). Finally, it can be concluded that all the conjunctions realize Halliday and Hassan’s theory. It shows that the conjunctions have important role to make words, phrases, sentences and even paragraphs cohesively related. |
