| Abstrak | Penelitian berjudul Victoria’s Rebellious Attitude as the response to Patriarchal System in London 1812 as Reflected in Tina Gabrielle’s Lady of Scandal bertujuan untuk menganalisa efek dari sistem patriarki di dalam kehidupan Victoria Ashton dan sikap memberontaknya sebagai respon dari adanya sistem patriarki. Novel ini bercerita tentang seseorang yang hidup di dalam sistem patriarki namun mencoba untuk melakukan hal yang berbeda berdasarkan pada sistem sosial saat itu. Hasil dari analisis ini menunjukkan bahwa sistem patriarki mempengaruhi kehidupan Victoria Ashton dalam beberapa aspek. Pertama, dalam kehidupan keluarga, dimana Victoria tidak diperbolehkan untuk mengambil keputusan apapun dalam hidupnya. Kedua, dalam aspek ekonomi, dia tidak diperbolehkan untuk bekerja dan mencari uang sendiri. Ketiga, dalam kehidupan sosial, dia tidak bisa menjadi wanita mandiri karena semua hal diatur oleh sistem patriarki. Dari sistem ini, Victoria melakukan tindakan yang berbeda yang dilarang dalam sistem patriarki dan ini dianggap sikap yang memberontak. Ada dua tipe sikap memberontak yang sesuai dengan Victoria Ashton. Pertama, tipe transgressive, dimana orang dengan karakter ini akan bertindak berdasarkan keinginan dan hasratnya sendiri. Kedua, tipe progressive, orang dengan karakter ini adalah seseorang yang tidak takut pada kehidupan dan berharap hidup dengan cara yang layak dan mampu menghadapi kerasnya hidup namun tidak kompromi dengan ketidakadilan. |
| Abstrak (Inggris) | The research Entitled “Victoria’s Rebellious Attitude as the response to Patriarchal System in London 1812 as Reflected in Tina Gabrielle’s Lady of Scandal” is conducted to analyze the effect of patriarchal system in Victoria Ashton’s life and her rebellious attitude as a response to patriarchal system. This novel tells about someone who lives in patriarchal system but try to do something different according to that society system. The result of the analysis shows that the patriarchal system affects Victoria Ashton’s life in some aspects. First, in family life, where Victoria is not allowed to decide her own life. Second, in economy, she is not able to have a job and to earn her own money. Third, in society life, she is not able to be an independent woman because anything is ruled by the patriarchal system. From this system, Victoria did some different attitude which is banned in patriarchal society that is considered as rebellious attitude. There are two types of rebellious attitude that matches with Victoria Ashton. First, transgressive type, the person with this character will act based on her own interest or desire in life and second, progressive type, people with this character is a trait of someone who is not afraid of living but wishes to live in a dignified way, and capable of bearing the weight of reality but not the weight of injustice. |
